-
Who can apply to the Academy?
The Academy is open to BIPOC aspiring professionals who want to pursue a career in publishing. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and stages of their journey, whether you’re a recent graduate, making a career change, or anywhere in between. See the full list of requirements here.
-
Is the Academy really free?
Yes! Inkluded Academy is completely free to participants. We believe cost should never be a barrier to entering publishing.
-
When do applications open, and how do I apply?
Applications typically open in February of each year. They close in April, and decisions are announced by May 1. Details and the application form are announced on our website, newsletter, social media, and BookJobs.
-
Do I need previous publishing experience to join the Academy?
Not at all! Many of our students come in with little or no publishing experience. What we’re looking for is curiosity, commitment, and passion for books and professionalism.
-
What is the difference between the Academy, Spotlight, and Pathways programs?
Academy is a structured, eight-week summer publishing program, with a focus on pedagogy, mentorship, and career support.
Spotlight is a 60-minute lecture series focusing on niche or emerging areas of publishing. Often hosted in person in NYC, these events combine big-picture conversations about the industry with valuable networking opportunities.
Pathways is a 90-minute, virtual hands-on skill-building workshop series that teaches participants concrete publishing skills such as copyediting, reviewing submissions, and creating marketing campaigns.
-
Are sessions recorded if I can’t attend live?
Only members have access to our exclusive library of recorded events.
-
I’m an industry professional. Can I speak at a Spotlight or Pathways?
